Rachael James is Professor of Geochemistry in the department of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton. She is a marine geochemist with an international reputation for the development of novel geochemical techniques that can be applied to investigations of the ocean and earth system. She has led investigations as to the effects of CO2 leakage on marine biogeochemical cycles in both national (QICS) and international (ECO2) projects, and was a member of the ECO2 Scientific Steering Committee. In 2014 she was the European Association of Geochemistry distinguished lecturer.
