Prof. Jon Bull is Professor of Geophysics within the University of Southampton at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton. He leads a group working on applications of high resolution marine seismology to topics as diverse as active faulting, remote determination of the physical properties of sediments, object visualisation in 3-dimensions, as well as determining gas flux in near-surface sediments. He led a major funded project to develop a 3D Chirp profiler, which has recently been licensed to a commercial company. He made a major contribution to the QICS experiment, and also took part in the ECO2 project. Within STEMM-CCS he will be working on the active and passive acoustics associated with the controlled gas release experiment through North Sea sediments, as well as onshore chimney structures as analogues to what is observed in sedimentary basins.
