Gennadi Lessin is a marine systems modeller at PML. He is specializing in modelling benthic processes and benthic-pelagic interactions using ERSEM. He is working on the development of ERSEM benthic modules, refining existing modules and adding new biogeochemical and biological processes and formulations within the NERC Shelf Seas Biogeochemistry programme. Within the ECO2 project, he implemented a modelling approach to study the impacts of potential carbon dioxide leakage from CCS on succession and recovery of zoobenthic groups of variable pH tolerance. Before joining PML in 2013, Gennadi worked on coupled hydrodynamic-biogeochemical modelling of the Baltic Sea at Marine Systems Institute at Tallinn University of Technology and Institute for Environment and Sustainability (JRC-IES).
