Abdirahman M. Omar (AMO) is a research scientist at Uni Research AS. He earned his PhD in Chemical Oceanography in 2003 at the University of Bergen, Norway. AMO has considerable experience in investigations of marine biogeochemistry, measurements of carbon cycle parameters, instrument testing, and research management. AMO’s research interest is the marine carbon cycle particularly in the shelf and marginal seas. He investigates topics including the rate of increase and horizontal transport of anthropogenic CO2 in the ocean utilizing automatic sensors aboard commercial ships so called Voluntary Observing Ships (VOS) and on moorings. Over the last few years AMO has been involved in the development of methods and technologies for monitoring CO2 seepage in the marine environment.
